Post kind of off topic... cymbalta
well i have my first sleep study next week, and im really excited about it.
anyhow a couple of days ago my physicain offered cybalta samples to help with the mood swings ive been having. he said if i like it then stay on it, and i may not even need it after the sleep study. anyways... i used to take prozac, it was okay and all, but didnt really feel it was enough of a benefit to continue use. this cymbalta stuff is a monster though... it feels VERY similar to the active ingredient found in most cough suppressants (dextromethrophan hydrobromide). It makes your body feel kind of light, and your eyes stay open real wide for some reason... im not enjoying this, i dont like the feeling. there is some nasua too. initially i wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt because from what i understand, the symptoms are temporary, and will go away after your body adjusts. well heres where im starting to worry, all i can find is negative feedback. alot of people kill themselves after they get on this drug, no joke. it also is supposed to turn your liver into an ash tray. and once youve started, dont dare try to stop because it is supposed to have the most foul, horrid and painful withdrawls you could imagine... why does the fda approve this stuff? i dont like feeling this way so im discontinuing use after three days now. i wanted to see if anyone here has tried this drug, and actually benefitted from it, because it scares the hell out of me, fda [edited to maintain family content]?

Post Cymbalta use
I have been on cymbalta for a few months now.  As with any medication every person can have a different reaction.  I take it for my perepherial neuropathy pain in  my feet and legs.  I have never had the symptoms you mentioned, nor did I experience and mood swings

My doc tried to put me on Cymbalta as I was trying to get rid of clonazepam, and I felt 10 times worse. Not only did I have to deal with the clonazepam withdrawals, but all the nasty side effects of the Cymbalta. Personally, I like to feel the sensation of turning my head at the SAME TIME as I turn it.

In the end, I dumped it all in favor of taking 5-HTP. It smoothed out my anxiety quite a bit, and I no longer have that distant floaty feeling that Big Pharma's concoctions cause.

I've been on cymbalta for 10 months now. I really don't think I need it. I've had panic attacks for the last 2 years. Klonopin was all I had for it, which didn't work for a real true panic attack. I had a serious amount of stress going on about 10 months ago and had a severe panic attack and it lasted HOURS. He gave me cymbalta and the generic xanax. The first 2 or 3 weeks were awful, always light headed, dizzy, naseaus. After that it went away. I don't think cymbalta ever stopped the panic attacks, I just used the xanax as needed. Now I have to go to a shrink just to get the xanax and of course, I have to stay on cymbalta. How do I know I probably don't need it? They said if you drink more than 1 alcoholic drink a day, it kills any possible effect the cymbalta will have. I drink well more than that...I doubt the pill has any effect on me at this point. I only take 1 or 2 xanax a week. It's a lot of trouble and money to see a shirnk every 6 weeks and then pay $50 a month or whatever for cymbalta when I just need a few xanax now and then.
