I thought I read on the forum about someone who marketed soft cloth pads to go over the headgear of some styles of CPAP masks.

I am looking for something to use with a ResMed Swift nasal pillow style mask. I love the mask..but am getting tired of waking up with the tell tale - CPAP marks on my face..... I keep the head gear pretty tight.

Hi Truckerdad,

I don't know what your pressure is, or anything about the mask you are using. However, I am just getting started on this xPAP journey, and one thing I have read in the manuals that come with the masks, and from my DME who is a fellow apnea sufferer, is that the newer masks should not be pulled tight. I learned the hard way after listening to my first DME and ended up with a sore on the bridge of my nose that is slowly healing. Now I am learning what leaks actually sound like ...

My pathetically generic ones (until you get the real thing) are knee high pantyhose folded up and placed underneath. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it really helps. :o) I had to go with what I could find.

I tried the fleece covers, but I don't have time to clean them every day, and I have very sensitive skin.  A while back, I had a classic "duh!"   moment and came up with the easiest fix ever--I just slide a travel-pack (the kind that are folded) under each strap.  Throw it away in the morning.  I have even learned how to fold a regular tissue myself

Resmed makes fleece cover for the Swift Lt for her which also fits the Swift Lt.  I have found them to be comfortable and helps avoid getting marks on my face.  I wash them once a week with my other equipment.

I cut moleskin, the kind used on feet to avoid blisters, and attach it to the inside (face side) of the headgear. It's softer  on cheeks.

Truckerdad; I go to the local discount department store and buy a package of toe bandages.  They are foamy, and about the same length as the "swoosh" of the Swift masks.  These are over by the pharmacy.  There are three in a pack, but if you buy two packs, you then have three sets.  Slip one on each side of your mask; they last about a month or so, before they get flat.

Try 'em, and let me know what you think.

Could somebody please explain to my what harm it does to share a website where another person requesting information can go to to read articles, or read about helpful items for sale that might enhance their cpap therapy or compliance or just plain human comfort?  What is the deal?  I'm not selling anything. I'm only sharing what I found, where I found it, so that others may or may not choose to look at something and make decisions for themselves?

If those are the rules, I vote we take a poll amongst the registered users of this forum and vote to change that rule.  What say the people?

Links to commercial posts, in whatever form, will cause the ASAA to lose its not-for-profit status.  That is U.S. law.  Additionally, we are here solely to support patients and most people appreciate that.  Googling something is a simple thing to do and obviously we mention products/equipment/etc. as shared knowledge as to what has helped up as OSA patients.
