Awesome response, GMan, because it does What the others have posted is right on the money too.
Sure, it is VERY embarassing to wear a mask for sleep, who wants to do that? Especially when shy. But... get over it Life goes on with CPAP, a good life that is! If you are dating a nice girl but find she doesn't like your taste in clothes or cooking or car or being frugal or being a spendthrift or.... name any number of incompatibilies. You don't see yourself long term with that girl, right?
CPAP is just another part of the life that is "you", if a girl has issues with it, then move on. Chances are quite high there will be no such incompatibility when it comes to CPAP, but much more likely it will be over something else
Life is good! Embrace it and get on with the dating
Here's a good (or at least, funny) side to CPAP to get you started. There's more where that came from, if you do a few searches... try 'cabana boy' LOL

Of course, anybody with an incurable medical condition hopes for a cure for their condition; that is why people get UPPPs and why cancer patients go to Mexico to get laetrile.
What's UPPP? And what's laetrile? :)

If you build the relationship and a girl really likes you she won't be put off by the machine. If she is then I'd have to wonder if she's anyone you would want to even be with.
My cpap is no big deal to my girlfriend because I don't make a big deal out of it. We have a normal life just like any other dating couple. We have our fun time, cuddle time, pillow talk time... just like everyone else. When one of us is ready to sleep we say goodnite, the mask goes on and we sleep. I'm so energetic from using my machine that she would have no reason to complain about it anyway. Don't make a big deal out of the machine, don't act like you're less of a man because you need to use it. Present it as if it's the thing that keeps you strong & manly.
Well, yes. But I think that after that "good night" saying I'd rather retire to a different room. And why not? It might even be quite comfortable for many people to sleep on different beds or in different rooms...
hi there my name is tom, i'm 20 years old, i have sleep apnea. well i was ill when i was younger and developed this problem, i under breath at night, not through snoring, its physical damage to the breathing part of the brain, so it doesnt work as well at night!, iv'e had a cpap since i was 6 years old, it never used to be a problem, it was kind of kool and different. when i hit 17 and started having more serious relationships, i became a bit more self consious, as anyone would. iv'e had a few girlfriends in the past few years, who i havnt told and theyv stayed the odd night, iv'e gone without it. to me thats not real, and its being fake. iv'e been with my new girlfriend now for about 7 months, shes 21 and a student nurse, ive told her about it, and explained to her how hard it is for me to talk about it, and that it bothers me, more than anyone else. the more you talk about it, the easier it gets. its a small part of ur life, and ur asleep. if your close enough to her/him. you can work around it. be glad your'e not bound to a wheelchair. nobody is perfect, the question is are you perfect for each other. i have become alot more confident now, and if i dont use it, ill be really ill simple as ! hope this helps. its helped me just writing it down !

Thanks for sharing the links ! You have to have a sense of humor and God knows I need a good laugh now and again. My Granddaughter lives with me. One night I just disconnected the hose from the mask to use the bathroom. We met in the hallway ! Scared the begeebies out of her ! I/ we laughed so hard I thought I might not make it to the bathroom. Humor is great medicine ! :)

Yeah, it is a little awkward. But after I got to know her better, I would point out that the CPAP machine improves the level of testosterone in the male body.....which is a good thing!
