I have two lovely birds who have made a nest in my BBQ grill this year, I have decided I dont have to grill this spring so they can stay.  I really really want to open the lid to the BBQ grill and see what all they have done in there, however lately I am thinking the mother might have already laied her eggs.  Does anyone know if it would be okay with the mommy and daddy if I opened the lid and snuck a peak?

Don't know Fred, but do you have any wild-life rescue groups around?  They could probably tell you.  What kind of birds are they?  What a kind person you are to let them nest in your grill for awhile.

i would leave them in peace and nesting without disrupting them as little as possible. you can put a tin of water out for them to drink from and to bath in. birds need to have humidity while nesting.

Fred, I don't think they take kindly to peeping toms. My brother was once attacked by what seemed like a whole flock of birds when he tried to peek into a nest.

This year some birds have nested in one of the vents that opens to the outside of my house. I think it's the vent leading from the downstairs loo. Usually it has a small wire basket over it, but they managed to pull it off and get inside. I was going to leave them alone, hoping that once the babies were born they'd move on and I could put the covering back on. But they're so noisy up there it's annoying and now there's bird !@#! all over the back patio. Today I found an egg in the grass.

If they don't leave soon I'm going to have to serve them an eviction notice.

Luckly for me I can not hear the birds only see them thru the window.   They have made something of a mess on the deck I figure later in the summer I will clean out the BBQ Grill and Spray off the deck.  I hate to put water out only from fear of attracting more birds, I am okay with the two that are here now but I would hate to have the mess of a whole flock.  I am trying to not look in the BBQ Grill and I hope I can manage, but I am really tempted when I see both of the birds leave, I want to take a sneak.

I don't blame you, I'd be curious too!
