Post Acupuncture and Sleep Apnea, alternative approaches
Hi,

I am a 35 year old male, normal weight and not a typical high risk patient for sleep apnea.  However, I have been diagnosed, tried a dental device (which changed my bite), a CPAP machine (which I couldn't sleep well with) and 4 somnoplasty treatments.  The treatments worked well, but my body has since returned to normal it appears.

So, I'm looking for other options.  Has anyone tried:
       * Acupuncture
       * Herbal medications
       * Anything else that worked

If so, how have they worked for you?  What was your story?

Cheers & Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,

My personal opinion is that you are wasting your time.
Your experience with somnoplasty answers this.....'your body returns to normal'. Skin tissue will revert.
There are plenty of snake oil sales people out there who will try to sell you everything from buteyko breathing, hypnosis, herbs etc and will swear that they know of at least 100 people that have been cured.............don't listen.

How hard have you tried with cpap ? It does work, is over 95% successful in dealing with sleep apnoea.......nothing else compares to it. If you post details of the difficulties you have experienced with cpap I'm sure there are many here who can help.

You need to give this another try.

Daniel

Hi Brian (I always spell that Brain),

I agree with Daniel.  Obstructive Sleep Apnea is literally a physical obstruction.  Herbs, pills and acupunture cannot correct a physical obstruction.  The best way to do that is with an air splint via a CPAP.  There are many different CPAPs and types of interfaces for your face.  Repost with the problems you had with a CPAP and you will find lots of help!

One alternative wasnt listed, a trach.

Now CPAP doesn't sound so bad, does it?

We all would like a quick fix for Sleep Apnea, but it isn't here.  As soon as it is, you can bet that we will be the first ones shouting it from the rafters!
