Mojo Gel Cushion Full Face Mask
I was given a new full-face mask from Mojo with a gel cushion. Has anyone else tried it and with what results? I find that it wants to slide down and then start leaking. It has a wire in the gel cushion to help mold it to my face, but that does not help when the mask moves.

Quote:Mojo is advertised as the most comfortable SleepMask in the world! Mojo's contoured shell follows the curves of your face and easily bends in and out for a comfortable and relaxing fit. Air leakage problems are ended by adjusting the headgear and the dual beam element transfers the force of the straps to the center of the mask. The proprietary tension wheel fine-tunes the fit to each patient's needs.
SleepNet's magnetic clips are extremely easy to use. There is no more need to take your headgear off of your mask when not using the mask. The clips easily click into and out of place with little effort.
Looks like an interesting mask. I like the fact that they say it's the most comfortable sleep mask in the world. I might have to try one of these. I am currently using the Flexfit 431 but it doesn't have any gel.
Anyone else using this mask???

 MOJO
David
The MOJO is one of the masks that I have tried without success, it is in the drawer with the other unsuccesfull gear. The best I have been able to find for me is the Ultra Mirage Full Face and it is far from perfect

I have switched to the large size Mojo gel FF mask and am not having the problems with leakage like I had. I find that I have to have the face on pretty tight to stop leakage, bust since the gel cushion is there, it does not bother me.

David,
I would be interested to know what your cpap pressure is, and do you find the mask noisy? The reason I am asking is I have read reviews where people said they found the exhaust noise from the Mojo quite bothersome, especially at higher pressures.
Thank You
Brian

I have only been on the CPAP a few weeks so I have a machine that automatically sets my pressure according to need, so I do not know what the pressure is. They were not able to get me into enough of sleep during my study with a nasal mask so that is why I was prescribed a FF mask with a machine that adjusts. I will go to the doctor March 1st and they will get a readout from the machine so I should know then.
It is a little noisy, like someone said on another post, it sounds like Darth Vader, but I find the sound comforting--it puts me to sleep. The noise is not loud, just a soft up and down sound.

I ordered a Mojo five day ago but haven't received it yet. My pressure is 14 and I'll let you know how it works out after I get it.

I saw on the Fisher & Paykel website that they are now offering a full face mask with a gel seal. It is the F&P 432. I imagine it is probably the 431 with a gel seal. This is great news since I love my 431 and would imagine that a gel seal would make it even more comfortable. I called my DFE, but they don't have them in stock yet. Guess I'll try again in a month or so.

The 432 is a little pricey. The cheapest I could find was $149.95 on a couple of sites.

My Mojo showed up today and I am impressed with some of the features. It has magnetic clips which are very easy to attach and remove. It has a liitle wheel to adjust the pressure on the nose. It is very comfortable but I haven't slept with it yet. I'll report back tomorrow.

After fitting the Mojo® until it was comfortable while sitting up, I applied the cpap air to it and it leaked like a sieve (14 cm H²O.) I had to tighten the lower straps considerably in order to stop the leaks. They were mostly around my cheeks. The bridge of the nose seal is adjusted by turning a thumb screw that puts on more or less pressure. You can make a very fine adjustment on that, which is good because the bridge of the nose is sensitive.
Once I was lying down, I was able to reshape the mask to fit my face better (it has an adjustable wire that is inside the gel cushion.) You can sort of bend it in where there are leaks to increase the pressure seal. I tightened the lower straps some more. The headgears is semi-elastic and is comfortable. There was quite a bit of pressure on the back of my neck from the tight lower straps but it caused no problems.
Even though I had the mask really tight, it was comfortable and I slept well with it. I'll continue to tweak it as time goes on. So far, I find it more comfortable than the F&P Flexfit 431. I especially like the magnetic clips that are really easy to unclip but hold quite well.
Also I might mention that the exhaust comes straight out the front of the L shaped hose attachment and blows pretty hard, but only makes noise if you get the pillow in front of it.

I went to my doctor yesterday and he said that the CPAP adjusts automatically, but the average pressure was 8.6. I start out with an automatic 4 and then ramp up from there so that would bring down the average. I have woken up and seen it as high was 16, but the reason I woke up was because at that pressure it was leaking. Other than that, once I had made my final adjustments, I have not had much trouble with leakage. It is working well for me. My doctor said that before the CPAP I had an average of 87 events per hour, and now with the machine, I am at 3.7 per hour.

I wanted to update the information on this mask to note that the gel cushion came apart at the seam after 5 months of use. My supplier returned the mask to the manufacturer as defective and gave me a new one. It still is the best mask for me, though I do occasionally use the Flexfit. I finally gave up and shaved off my beard to get a better fit. I also find that I need to wash my face and wash the mask before use to ensure a good fit.
