I have used a cpap machine for 10 years with no problems to speak of. But suddenly I'm having trouble with my mask occasionally thumping during the night. it's a Comfort Select which has the little flap inside the main cushion.  My guess is that something is causing the flap to "pop" like a flag in the wind, but I have no idea how to stop it. I use a heated humidifier.  Has anybody else had this type of noise? Does anybody have any ideas how to eliminate it? I would appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks for the response. The mask is a little over a year old.  Does aging tend to produce noises?

Oh, yeah, you need a new mask.  Insurance companies replace masks between 3 and 6 months.  I get new masks as often as I can (partially, 'cause I'm a really bad girl and don't take care of them like I should   ).After awhile the silicon and other soft parts start breaking down.  With some masks, you can tell they need to be replaced when you have to start tightening the straps more to keep it from leaking.  Your notification must be your thumper.  Save parts off the old one that are worth saving so that if a part breaks, you'll have a spare.

When this happened to me it was water in my hose due to condensation.  I emptied out the water and turned down the heat on my humidifier and all was well again.  Hope this is your problem because it is an easy fix.  Best wishes ,  Elena

Thanks, I have now found the same procedure works for me! Fortunately, I have already received a new mask, which I will probably just store until I really need it!

I looked on the forum this evening to see if anyone else has had experience with the strange noise. It wakes me up and when I take the mask off, water begins dripping out of the nasal pillows. It has gotten so bad that I have to drain it twice a night. I have a "loaner" auto flex. I don't know how to turn down the heat on the humidifier. Can someone help me. I have a nose full of water.  

I don't know about all brands, but my Fisher-Paykel HC150 with ambient tracking has a knob on the front that can be adjusted from 0 to 4, with 1.5 as the suggestted starting point. Surely nobody makes a humidifer that can't be turned down, but they might not make the controls so obvious.  I believe you can find an HC150 on EBay; you will be able to see the knob (on the left) in any close-up picture.
