This is for all the F & P Flexifit 431 users out there who are having difficultly with it on the bridge of your nose.
Nasal masks usually have an adjustable piece in between the nose part and the forehead piece. This allows the angle of the mask to be changed. We don't have that luxury and I was messing around last night trying to figure out a way to get my Flexifit 431 off the bridge of my nose a bit. So, what I came up with was to stuff a cotton ball under the forehead piece which pulls the mask out a little from the bridge of my nose without changing the chin part of the mask much.
See if this works and let me know of other, perhaps more creative, solutions (cutting the mask as someone's supplier suggested is not an option!).

In early August 05' I started my experience with the Comfort Full Face (mouth breather) NG next I tried the F&P Oral Mask (good mask) but I couldn't find a way to properly seal my nose ALSO NG. So I tried the F&P Flexfit, but it trashes my nose and leaves face marks (don't tell me its too tight, thats what it takes not to leak, I'm at 14/8) so MAYBE NG. Also after three months and not feeling any different, I might just dump it all and forget about it, I can't keeping buying masks to experiment. Thanks.

This is probably the mask I'm going to want to try. I'm kicking this one around as well as the Ulltra Mirage FF mask. I am very much a mouth breather, especially when I'm asleep, so I don't think I'm even going to try nasal pillows or a nasal mask. The only problem, at least with the F&P is that I have a very large face from eye to chin and a very wide nose. I don't have any measurements right now because of the lack of a tape-measure. My concern is with their under-the-chin design, the largest mask they make might not be big enough from top to bottom (nose to chin). I mention this because when I was on oxygen previously, the mask I was using then was one that was supposed to go under the chin, but it hit me right above the chin. If I adjusted it dow, it would come off my nose before it would go under my chin. It was fine because then I wasn't looking for an air-tight seal like I will be now. Right now this is all speculation; everything may fit fine, but it's another thing I'm concerned about. Any advice?

Hi,
Tight straps force the side wall of the mask to break down. That's what causes the leaks.......it doesn't cure them.
You should try and loosen the straps, ensure that there is equal tension on the top and bottom strap. Too tight on the top, leaks on the bottom and vice versa. Allow the air to inflate the 'bubble' between the 2 walls of silicone, that is what will create the seal to your face. It must be allowed to inflate and stay inflated.
Big mistake to dump the therapy. You must come to terms with it. Nobody said it was easy. 3 months is not a long time. Stick with the F&P mask now and persevere. Be positive and bloody minded. Don't let it beat you. Don't buy more masks.
Keep posting the problems here and we'll get you compliant.
Post back.
Daniel

I took a 4" medical gauze x2, folded it up several times, placed it on the forehead support, then wrapped it with medical tape (cloth-type tape). That helped some when I had my mask tight, but I found that if I leave the top straps loose (not flopping loose, just not snug), the mask still seals on my nose and the forehead support doesn't even touch my forehead. I can't stick a finger in there, but it isn't touching. Either that nipped it in the bud or my nose has gotten used to it, because the pain is down dramatically from what it was the first month of use.
I am now talking to a DME about trying out the ComfortCurve. I don't know. I have seen many good and many bad reviews. Some side-sleepers say it's the greatest thing since fried chicken, some say it's the worst invention ever. Guess I will just try it and see.

The best for side sleeping for me is the Aieomed Aura (or whatever its new name is ) The Comfort curve is ok for side sleeping, but you better have a memory foam pillow, or a pap pillow...
