Post Nasal Aire Interface
I have been using the comfort gel nasal mask. I have found that it is not good for me as a side sleeper. I keep having problems with air leaks and comfort. I am constantly waking up to adjust the mask. I called my supplier and he suggested the Nasal Aire II Prong. Has anybody out there used this? He is supposed to come to my job tomorrow to do measurements.  I would appreciate any input out there!! Razz

cbrannon,

When I had my titration study they had me use the NasalAire II nasal prong interface.  My opinion....I found it quite comfortable but very noisy since the air tubes are located right at your ears.   That said, I'd still consider using it maybe as a spare for something different.

My DME set me up with the  Mirage Swift nasal pillows which seem to work well for me.  I'm also a side sleeper on a down/feather pilllow all scrunched up.  With the Swift I get very few leaks no matter what position I sleep in.

You might consider trying some different pillows to sleep on as well.  I know I tried a normal pillow while using my Swift and then I had a few leaks.

Good luck and happy sleeping!

I prefer either the breeze with nasal pillows (favorite) or swift over the nasal aire.  I find "pilllows" which do not insert high into the nose like "prongs" do, much more comfortable to wear, and a superior seal. In five years cpap use, I have tried many masks and nasal pillow/prongs, these are what work best for me......of course, we all are different.

I used the nasal aire for my sleep study and thought it extremely comfortable.  Doctor ordered it with machine but for some reason the tech said she could never get it to work, and sure enough, it just popped right out.  It was impossible.  She convinced me to get the FP Infinity and I am very sorry that I did.  I am thinking of going back to sleep center to see how they attached the headgear.  The tech was trying to make it stay on by hooking it behind my ears.  Although they claim that it goes behind the ears, if you look at the picture on some of the sites, they really show it attaching to the headband with what looks like two little velcro straps.  IOW, I think the gal screwed up either on purpose or through ignorance and got me into one that I don't care for at all.  Of course I don't think they will exchange it for me, although I read of those that do, she indicated that what I took is what I got.

Is there any exchange program amongst apnea users?

I am very discouraged at the fitting care I've gotten except at the sleep center.  They don't seem to care at all -- like something not fitting is all a plot to make them work too hard.  You can say "this hurts here" and they just say "it takes a while to get used to".  I really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars figuring out which mask will work and am quite unhappy at the moment.

I've done three days on the Infinity and am developing a sore, even with Ayr gel use to try to protect my nose.  There is something that feels sharp at the bottom of the thing and has from the beginning.  Anyhow, I'm thinking of purchasing the Nasal Aire with my own $$.
