HI! Is there a link between hypothyroid and sleep problems? Not so much insomnia but apnea. I've noticed a lot times I'll be sleeping and I wake up with a choking feeling. Like my tongue is back in my throat. I dont know if thats the real cause, but thats the feeling I get. I usually wake up with a gasp trying to get air. Is it maybe just  from a dream?

I have not done any formal testing. Nothing at home. It doesn't happen all of the time. Just once in a while.

What do you think?

Hi,

Not a link, but some of the symptoms can be similar.

Probably worth having it checked out.

Hi Pow Wow,

I think you need to take this test.  That will point you in the direction you need to go.

I took the test. The only thing I didn't answer yes to was the big neck.

Thanks.

Well PowWow,

Looks like the next step is to take that test and shows it to your doctor and talk to her/him about getting a sleep study done.  The neck thing is really minor, lots of us don't look like a stereotypical apnea patient (obese middle aged man).  Let us know how things go and keep posting questions!

Vicki
