I just received a VPAP Adapt SV. I was previously on a Respironics BiPap set at 23/18 with a backup rate of 12 and 3 l oxygen. I have not had a sleep study done using the VPAP machine. The DME set it at 7 as that is where they suggested a sleep study start for ASV. I have been diagnosed with Complex sleep Apnea. I've only used the new machine for three days and I am wondering if another sleep study is really required.
My data for one day: Leak: 13 lpm
AHI: 5.9
AI: 0.0
Avg Press: 8.4
VT: 211-502
Resp Rate: 14-17
MV: 3-6
I don't really know where these numbers are suppose to be. I do know I love this machine. I'm not "blowing my face off" every night. I had 60+% leakage with the other machine! Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi seajay515 so you really like this machine? I to think it is a great machine! We have the same set up! I am also on supplemental O2 at 3Lpm, I don't know that you have to have your sleep study done on the same machine that your using, mine wasn't! Last May I had an ASV titration study done, but they did not use this machine, I don't know what they did use, but they told me it was not the the ResMed machine. I know when I told them the machine I wanted, they said they had to refigure some numbers, because the Doc had prescribed the setting for the Respironics, any way you can see below at the bottom what my machine is set at. I will post two random sets of numbers so you can compare them with yours, the first set is what was a typical for me for the last 6 or 7 months the second set is What my number have been the last couple of weeks not to much different but my AHI has been a little higher. I go the end of the month to see my slee Doctor. A few month ago I E-mailed him some random samples of my detailed data from my machine as he requested. Saved an appointment!

My leak rate is high because of my beard, anyway it is something to compare with! Seajay you need to get the ReLink and Pulse-Ox and card reader and software, then you can really see the nitty-gritty details. with your pulse and O2 sats included, and then down load it all to your computer, and look at it minute by minute! Good Luck

Hi White Beard nice to hear from you. Thanks for sending your numbers. I don't know where mine are suppose to be but I see my PCP on Monday. I really don't know if he knows anything about complex sleep apnea or not. I may have to get a referral to my Sleep Doctor. I changed insurances and now have to deal with all new Doctors and rules.
I looked up the ResLink and software but ResMed won't give me the software. I was suppose to get the scan disk (reslink) with this machine but it didn't get ordered. The RT said I had to bring the machine into him to dump the data into his computer. Maybe if the Doctor orders the ResLink, I can work something out. The RT did not set my machine to give me all this data, but since it was fresh out of the box, I grabbed all the paperwork and set it so I could see the results. I can get into the clinical side and suppose I can also reset the pressure if need be. I think I saw a kit somewhere that contained all the stuff you have. How did you manage to get it? I would like to see all those tracing. My old DME use to email them to me after I sent him the scandisk.
I was so use to those high pressures, I keep wondering if this new one is working like it should!!

Due to FDA regulations the Resmed software is intended for professionals only and some local DME suppliers won't even provide it to you if your doctor writes a script for it. Plus insurances won't pay for the software, you have to buy it out of pocket. The cost is prohibitive thru most local DME suppliers. You don't need a script to purchase the software (you also need the proprietary cable reader) from online DME suppliers. The most recent version of the software is ResScan 3.7 and 3.7 is definitely needed if you have Vista on your 'puter. If you have a Mac you are SOL unless your Mac is capabile of running Windows based/compatable software.
Very few insurances will pay for a recording oximeter. Its just another item if you want it you are going to have to pay out of pocket for. The SPO 7500 w/software or the CMS-60 are two fairly reasonably priced that seem to be popular w/CPAPpers.

Thanks CrohnieToo...I don't know why they make it so hard for those of us who are truly interested in having the best health care and being able to monitor it ourselves!
