Error messages from machine, just before in-patient study
I have been allocated an appointment this week for a one night in-patient stay for further investigations to my sleep apnea.
Unfortunately, my machine, a Respironics M Series 500, has started malfunctioning and developed an error message.
A few minutes after switching it on at night, the blower shuts down and it emits an double-beep error message.
After switching it off and back on it seems to work OK as the blower is still going in the morning.
The user manual says that the double-beep indicates a system error and requires a service.
As I don't live too near the clinic it will be tricky to get there prior to the overnight stay. I phoned the technician today and she suggested that it could be indicating an air leak, or that I could try removing the smart card.
I will probably have to get it checked, but can anyone shed any light on this meanwhile? I don't want the sleep study spoiled.

Why would your at home PAP machine malfunctioning in any way affect your in lab sleep study? The sleep lab SHOULD be using their own PAP equipment, not yours, in order to get a full reading of all parameters of a full PSG study. You might want to take your PAP or at least the data card w/you to the sleep study on the off chance they may be aware of what the error message indicates or the data on the card can provide some helpful information as to what is malfunctioning.

That's what the hospital told me - bring your own device.

Ahhh. Now I undertand why they told you to bring your own PAP. Not to titrate you w/but rather to see if they can determine what its problem is.

Indeed. Why the CPAP isn't really working.
In my opinion it's because I have co-morbidity - Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - and need BiPAP. I hope they soon agree.
