Post First Post: Got Study Results - Scheduled for Titration
Hello All!
I can't believe the amount of information on this forum. I never expected it.
I took my first sleep study about 2 weeks ago and got the results. I knew I didn't sleep well, but never thought it was causing problems.

My Results:

Total recorded time: 424 minutes
Initial sleep Latency: 68 minutes (that's not that abnormal for me)
REM latency: 0 minutes (no REM sleep)
Total recorded sleep time: 238, efficieny 56%

10% stage 1
85% stage 2
 5% delta
 0% REM

83 scorable respitory events. Apnea/Hypopnea Index of 20.9
Total arousals 90, arousal index was 22.7
slept 22 minutes in the supine
111 minutes lateral
105 minutes promp
Mild/Moderate snoring
PLM index 15.9? what's that

Next week is the Titration study. I think I have forgotten what a good night's sleep feels like.

PLM = Periodic Leg Movement and Index indicates Per Hour so you had 15.9 periodic leg movements per hour or roughly one every 4 minutes.

My understanding is that Delta sleep is also referred to as Stages 3 and 4, the deep sleep wherein we get our most rest and restoration. REM = Rapid Eye Movement sleep and is the time our brain sorts thru and files our memories of the day, so called because most of our muscles are "frozen" and don't move, but our eyes rapidly flicker back and forth, up and down.

As we get older we do tend to spend less time in Delta and REM sleep. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't have SOME of each!

Supine is on our back, Prone is on our stomach and Lateral is on our side(s).
