sleepyjo did you have any central apneas in your sleep study? Maybe you need to have another in lab sleep study done, if your not getting any relief of symptoms even with increased pressure. At least to see what is really going on. you might want to check with your doctor to see what the doc thinks. I am sure the home study cannot be as complete or as thorough as the one done in a sleep lab. RAM_Sleep would be the one to tell you more about that. Anyway just a thought. I mentioned the Central Apneas because I started off on CPAP and it didn't help and had pressure increases and all, and it took 18 months and 6 sleep studies to finally get it treated properly. You probably don't have that but I just don't want to see anybody else go thru what I did, if it can be prevented. Good Luck to You!
Did she have the actigraphy? If so, then there is no way to tell if the events were centrals, unless the physician is making an educated guess. He can look at the AHI and compare it to the RDI. Some physicians feel that they can tell the difference between OSA and CSA, based on the difference in those values. In any event, these tests are said to be fairly accurate. Less accurate than a PSG, but much more accurate than I ever would have thought.
In fact, they are FDA approved, so physicians can diagnose from their results.
Im wondering what this field is going to be like in 5 years. It is getting very interesting.
