Post Settings/air flow question
I have a Respironics M-series and am having some airflow problems.  Mine is set at 14cfm and the ramp up is at 20 mins.  I know I can adjust the ramp up to a higher starting level, but can I change the length of ramp up time to say 1hr or something?  It seems to get too much pressure too soon as I don't fall asleep in 20 mins.  I've even had some "anxiety" breathing attacks when it's at full pressure and find it hard to breath.  I have to pull the mask off of my face and catch my breath and then put it back on.

Keep in mind, I'm new to the CPAP experience and know it'll take some time for my body and mind to adjust and also for me to dial in the correct settings on the machine, but I just want to know if anyone has any suggestions.  The anxiety attacks are brutal and bring be back to being fully awake and then I have to start over trying to fall asleep again!

Thanks in advance!

Jim

Do you have the ramp pressure set as low as possible?

If I remember correctly, it's set at 4 or 4.5, so it's pretty low.  It's almost too low that I feel like it's hard to breathe.  Somewhere in the middle is very comfortable....say around 8 or 9, but once it gets up to 14, it feels like I'm not able to exhale as much.  It does have the c-flex and it's set on 2.  Should I bump it to 3 maybe?  It's tough getting these machines dialed in correctly!

Yes, I would bump it to 3.

Edit:  Also, I think the ramp time can be set to 45 minutes.  I'm not sure how it's set or if you can even set it.  Maybe the DME has to do it for you?  I was just looking at several of the Respironics M Series machines and each of their product info indicates a 45 min ramp time.

You can also hit the ramp again during the initial ramp, and I think it may start the timer over again.
