Need Nasal Mask Recommendation for High Pressure

Post Need Nasal Mask Recommendation for High Pressure
I'm on a bi-pap at 22/18.  For the past three months have been using the Profile Lite Nasal Gel mask (which I love).  Now have a pressure sore and dr. says I need a different mask.  Have the Activa but it doesn't give at good seal at 22 and I find it uncomfortable.  I will be going for a new mask fitting (not sure when, dr. put order in).  Any recommendations for a nasal mask that seals well at such a high pressure?

Thanks,
Sheryl

This will be a learning experience for me too. I am newer but have three masks.  The Resmed Ultra has a membrane similar to plastic sandwich cling wrap that seems to do the sealing. So I'm very careful when I wash it.  I'm wondering if this is common as I thought most masks were just a press fit against the face where this one seems to seal better with the pressure.

I think you have asked the Hundred Million Dollar question! I have tried all different kinds of mask and I had even shaved my beard and when you start getting around 20cm I could never get a mask to seal, and if it did as soon as I fell asleep and my facial muscles relaxed the mask would  start leaking like a sieve! I grew my beard back and I use the Liberty mask  and it leaks but with my whiskers at least I don't feel it and my machine seems to do alright compensating for it! But since I don't think you can grow a beard  Wink  I really just don't know what to tell you! Even now with my ASV machine my average pressure per night  is only around 12.2cm but when I look at my detailed data, it often kicks up to 25cm many times a night to prevent me from having an apnea! I just don't think Mask seals are made for those high pressures! I do wish you all the luck in finding a mask that will work! Good Luck to You

Thanks.  Will see what happens.   If the leaking was in the chin area, wouldn't be so bad but it leaks into the eyes.  And, I probably could grow that beard but don't think it would enhance my looks at all.

I'll keep you all informed.

So, had my mask fitting today.  What a nice change.  They do try the mask on you, after determining which one (not that they had that wide of selection).  And then you get to take it home.  I will, of course, let my dr. know if it doesn't work at 22/18.

Got the Comfort Gel.  Does not position on my pressure sore (which is healing nicely).

I really thought they'd just size me and then order the mask.  Looking forward to a much better nights sleep than I've been getting.

I was surfing around looking for masks that may not be on my list and came across a mask called
Joyce and Yarra Nasal mask designed for high pressures. I could not find details of the manufacturer nor am I sure if this is still available in US Market.
